All events registered to be pointed by CSDC is free for the year of 2026.

Six (6) major CSDC-pointed events from the 2025 season have been designated to award one (1) point to all finalists in every division. This point will lock competitors into their respective divisions, ensuring that dancers who have advanced in skill level and reached finals retain their appropriate placement.
Competitors may still choose to self-place into a higher division if desired. In such cases, the nine (9) month qualification rule shall apply, and the competitor must earn a finals placement in the self-selected division in order to be locked into that division.

How We may be able to stop self placement
Competitors shall have a nine (9) month qualification period beginning January 1, 2026 to place into finals in the division they wish to remain in. Upon earning one (1) point through a finals placement, the competitor shall be locked into that division.
At the conclusion of the nine (9) month period, any competitor not locked into a division shall be required to enter through the Novice division.
To prevent advanced dancers from competing in Novice, competitors may petition to move up at any CSDC-sanctioned event after the qualification period. The competitor must dance in front of the Event Chief Judge and two (2) additional judges. The judging panel shall determine the highest eligible division. All decisions are final.
Applying the rules to dance events
All events registered for 2026 will have this grace period to apply the rules. We understand that change takes time and effort. If within the year more time is needed to adjust, event directors are able to apply for a 6 month extension.
