Jim Tigges began dancing in 1990. He became a member of the west coast swing dance community in 1992 and was an active competitor for many years. He and his wife were Event Directors for a 5-day, 1000 people per day dance event in Phoenix from 1997 – 2000 for the Greater Phoenix Swing Dance Club. He has been an Executive Board member of the World Swing Dance Council since 2000 – and drafted the WSDC’s original rules / event guidelines and maintained them for many years, developed the original WSDC membership database and the developed the WSDC Swing Dance Hall of Fame. He was an original and contributing member of the WSDC Chief Judge Training Program and is a WSDC Platinum Certified Chief Judge. He was one of the first to develop a computerized scoring system, in 2000; and has been judging and Chief Judging west coast swing since 2013 and has also Chief Judged at Hustle and Country / Swing crossover events. He has been on staff in various capacities for over 150 dance events. His “Competitors Seminar” and “Judges Training” programs have been well-received for several years.
